A Historic Knock in Bulawayo
Wiaan Mulder delivered a once-in-a-generation performance.
He scored a breathtaking 367 not out against Zimbabwe in the second Test at Bulawayo.

It was his first match as South Africa’s Test captain.
While chasing greatness, he approached Brian Lara’s iconic 400.
But then came the moment that stunned everyone.
Mulder declared the innings, just 33 runs short of Lara’s record.

Breaking Amla’s Record
In doing so, Mulder broke Hashim Amla’s national record.
Amla had held the highest individual Test score for South Africa with 311*.
Mulder’s 367* came off just 411 balls.
He smashed 49 fours and 4 sixes during the knock.
His triple century came in just 297 deliveries —
the second-fastest triple century in Test history.
“We Had Enough” — A Leader’s Call
After the declaration, Mulder was asked about the decision.
He responded calmly:
“I thought we had enough runs. Winning the Test was more important than chasing 400.”
That one sentence showed his maturity and selflessness.
Even Brian Lara himself praised the gesture on social media.

Bat, Ball, and Brilliance
Mulder’s performance wasn’t limited to batting.
He also picked up two wickets and held a sharp slip catch.
This wasn’t a one-off either.
Since 2024, he has averaged over 90 in Tests.
In just 13 innings, he has scored three centuries and a fifty.
A New Era for South African Cricket
With that innings, Mulder didn’t just rewrite records.
He sent a clear message — South Africa has found its next great leader.
His combination of skill, patience, and humility
makes him a captain the world will watch for years to come.
