Deepika Shines with Magic Skill Award
Young Indian hockey star Deepika has won the FIH Magic Skill Award 2025, part of the annual FIH Hockey Stars Awards. This recognition celebrates the most skillful and crowd-pleasing moment in international hockey from the past year and Deepika’s winning moment came during the FIH Pro League 2024–25 season.

The midfielder’s dazzling 3D skill against China, where she picked the ball up, dodged two defenders and beat the goalkeeper with sublime control, was voted the best by fans and experts across the globe.
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) officially announced the award on July 17, as part of its 2025 honours.

A Rare Bright Spot for India
While India’s women’s team missed out on the final rounds of the 2025 FIH Pro League and failed to qualify for the Paris Olympics, Deepika’s individual award has been widely seen as a morale boost for the young squad.
“The Magic Skill Award is a fan-favourite and this year’s winner Deepika displayed exceptional control, creativity, and flair under pressure.” The FIH stated in its release.
Looking Ahead
Deepika’s win follows a string of strong individual performances. With the 2026 World Cup cycle on the horizon, Deepika’s growth will be key to India’s rebuilding plans.
