Silver Shines in Madrid
A powerful display of skill and precision earned the Indian women’s compound team a silver medal at the Archery World Cup Stage 4 in Madrid. The trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur, and 16-year-old debutant Prithika Pradeep showcased composure and consistency in a thrilling final against Chinese Taipei.

Strong Qualification Sets the Stage
Heading into the knockouts as the top seed, the Indian team had earlier dominated the qualification round with a combined score of 2116 points. Their performance reflected both experience and emerging talent.
A Final Full of Momentum Swings
The title match began evenly, with both teams tied at 57 after the first end. India then surged ahead in the second, scoring 58 to take a 115–113 lead. Despite a close third end and a narrow arrow into the 8-ring, they still maintained a slight advantage heading into the final set.

However, Chinese Taipei held their nerves in the final end, delivering a score of 58. India responded with 55, bringing the match to a close at 227–225, with India finishing as proud silver medallists.
A Debut Worth Remembering
For Prithika Pradeep, this was a dream debut. Competing at the senior level for the first time, the 16-year-old made a strong impression with her composure and scoring ability, standing alongside two of India’s best in Jyothi and Parneet.
Medal Opportunities Still Ahead
The compound contingent remains in the medal race. Jyothi Surekha Vennam will pair with Rishabh Yadav in the mixed team bronze playoff, while both Jyothi and Parneet have qualified for their respective individual semifinals.
With multiple shots at the podium still to come, Indian archery continues to shine on the world stage.
