Mbappé Silenced, PSG Soar: Real Madrid Crushed in Semifinal Shock

In a match charged with history, drama, and emotion, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) delivered a footballing masterclass. They thrash Real Madrid 4–0 in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup semifinal at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey.

This was no ordinary clash. It marked the first time Kylian Mbappé faced his former club, PSG, after his blockbuster transfer to Real Madrid. But instead of writing his redemption story, it was Fabián Ruiz, Ousmane Dembélé, and Gonçalo Ramos who stole the headlines.



First-Half Explosion

PSG wasted no time taking control. Fabián Ruiz opened the scoring in the 6th minute with a calm finish. Dembélé doubled the lead just three minutes later. Real Madrid’s defense looked stunned as Ruiz struck again in the 24th minute. Ruiz completing his brace and sending PSG into the break with a commanding 3–0 lead.

The French side’s pressing was relentless. They cut off Jude Bellingham’s supply, isolated Vinícius Jr., and completely dismantled Real’s midfield setup.

Tactical Misfire from Madrid

Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso tried to surprise PSG by shifting to a 4-man backline. But the gamble backfired. PSG’s pace on the wings exposed gaps, while midfielders Vitinha and Ugarte controlled the tempo.

Even Luka Modrić  struggled to string passes together as PSG suffocated Real’s buildup from back to front.

Late Sealer and Defensive Brilliance

Real Madrid’s best chance came in the second half, but Gianluigi Donnarumma preserve his clean sheet.
At the other end, Gonçalo Ramos came off the bench and fired PSG’s fourth goal in the 87th minute.



Mbappé Silenced on Return

All eyes were on Kylian Mbappé, but the French superstar endured a frustrating night. He was constantly booed by PSG fans, denied space, and kept quiet by a rock-solid defense.
